Why do I need health insurance?
When you have health insurance, many of your expenses are paid when you receive preventive care services, such as yearly checkups and regular screening tests. Many medical providers and health plans will even remind you when you need preventative care. It is important because preventative care often makes it possible to identify any health concerns early.
Health insurance can shield you from overwhelming financial strain, too. While medical providers keep costs down as much as possible, they are not able to completely eliminate high medical bills, especially with major illnesses or in the event of an emergency. If you have health insurance, you will have a great deal of assistance with covering your medical bills.
What is the Affordable Care Act (ACA)?
A comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010 (sometimes known as ACA, PPACA, or “Obamacare”).
The law has 3 primary goals:

Make affordable health insurance available to more people. The law provides consumers with subsidies (“premium tax credits”) that lower costs for households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).

Expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138% of the FPL.

Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care generally.
Does my Company have to offer Health Benefits?
The Affordable Care Act does not require businesses to provide health benefits to their workers, but applicable large employers may face penalties if they don’t make affordable coverage available. The employer shared responsibility provision of the Affordable Care Act penalizes employers who either do not offer coverage or do not offer coverage that meets minimum value and affordability standards. These penalties apply to groups with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees.
What is Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)?
ERISA requires plans to provide participants with plan information including important information about plan features and funding; provides fiduciary responsibilities for those who manage and control plan assets; requires plans to establish a grievance and appeals process for participants to get benefits from their plans; and gives participants the right to sue for benefits and breaches of fiduciary duty.
Is there still a penalty for being uninsured?
There is no penalty for not having ACA mandated coverage in 2021.

She loves that she can assist both business owners and employees find benefit solutions so they can focus on more important things in life.

Small group benefits is her forte and she is committed to helping businesses find ways to retain employees through the offering of benefits.
